Why Some People Will NEVER See Results
By Vic Magary – Former ARMY Soldier and the author of The 31 Day Fat Loss Cure
There has to be some magic answer.
Every time you open a magazine, read a newspaper, or get hypnotized by some late-night infomercial you see something shiny and new. A new potion, pill, or gizmo that promises the lean physique you desire. . . if only you use the latest and greatest magic answer.
Modern-day snake oil salesmen pitching everything from seaweed wraps to high-tech exercise contraptions make it difficult to stick to just one method in your fat loss quest. It’s tempting to jump on the next fitness craze bandwagon, especially when everyone on the commercial looks so damned happy.
And this is why some people will never see results – they don’t stick with any one program long enough to see results.
People too often want instant gratification. Or even worse, they expect to not have to make any changes to their diet and exercise habits and still somehow look like a fitness magazine cover model. Well I’m here to tell you the truth – you absolutely will have to clean up your diet. You absolutely will have to train at an intensity level that is greater than you’ve ever experienced (yet still appropriate for your fitness level). And you absolutely will not instantaneously lose weight no matter how fancy the gizmo or how magic the potion.
Whether it’s my 31 Day Fat Loss Cure manual, or some other program based on sound nutrition and fitness principles, you must stay the course for a solid month before deciding if the program is working for you.

And by stay the course, I mean actually do what the program dictates – don’t try to blur the lines with your own habits and rationales that have gotten you to the point that you want to lose weight. If the program says “no diet soda”, don’t rationalize that because diet soda doesn’t have any calories it can’t possibly hinder your fat loss so it’s alright to have a few each week.
No diet soda means NO DIET SODA. Stick with the program for a solid month and then decide what has been effective and what hasn’t worked for you.
So don’t get distracted by the hollow promises of the latest and greatest weight loss fads. Use a program founded in timeless nutrition and exercise principles and then stay focused!
You can do anything for a month.
Train hard!

i thought i was in good shape but your no b.s. way works for me and your work out are going to kill me but im going to keep doing them anyway its not the work out but the way you do them nonstop that i can tell that they work. i have been going to the gym for 6 mo 4 to 6 time a week and not getting result i want but i thin i will get the results this time thanks

Agree , follow the recipe. and later “tweak ingredients to personal taste”
But the whole thing from my experience to achieving results
would be – mindset, and how to percieve change and acept it!!!!!!
The best rationale i have read and implemented , that in change defined from instinct and survival through our evolution things out of the “norm” could and did represent danger.
And we still have this very basic and primal instinct.
Think about it……..
How many times has someone suggested to try or experience something out of the norm /out of your comfort zone.
And your instant reaction without much thought , trying to find mismatch with the situation.” that wont work” i dont like that” etc…………..
How we perceive change????
Re-define it , stop sabotaging your efforts, correct your mind-set…..

I have been on this program for 2 weeks and have lost 6 pounds and feel great. The exercise program is great – short, intense and makes me feel great after completing it. If you cheat, you won’t get the results you want. If you go back to your old habits, all of your hard work will be wasted.

I believe that if you cut out all the garb from your diet and do the exersices, you will see results. Luckily for me I was put in a predicament where I felt uncomfortable with my belly, I’m not grosely overweight, just a belly. So much that I was determined to lose it so it was easy for me to give up sweets and fibre as well as dairy. I’m on the 2 week sedentary program (therefore not the full program yet) but stuck to the diet and lost 6 lbs the first week. Way to go Vic with your program. I’m anxious to see the final outcome

Same here – Lots of belly fat, but still active. I lost 7 lbs first week and another 3 the second week. Had to cut back on the workout as I was having a hard to moving the next day. So I have gone to every other day for now and shortened the sets until I get better conditioned. Going for 15 – 20 lb lb loss in 30days……

Yup, I agree! That is the big stumbling block! I started in ernest this morning and the food part is right on track (no snacks other than those recommended at the prescribed intervals). Now to do the exercises in the quantities recommended.
WE CAN DO IT!!!

Hey Vic you makes good points, but the two smiling asassins keep temting me, bread and beer, luv em to death, which is ultimately were they’ll take me if I let them.
It’s hard man, really hard but I’m slowly winning.
I find more and more that I actually feel guilty if I break.
The workouts are hard but guess what, I’ve was studying my ass off for a technical math exam, and I mean over two hundred hours of personal study time and sat the exam just before christmas…..I found out yesterday that I passed.
What can I tell you
ALL THE HARD WORK PAID OFF…IT WAS ACTUALLY WORTH THE PAIN.

I am 60 years old and have been following the program for 12 days. I am starting to see results such as more energy, better sleeping with less snoring according to my wife – haha. Strength, endurance and regularity have improved noticeably. I HAVE NOT been on a scale becasue it is a mental thing with me – I either get discouraged or I get careless. Vis is absolutely right that there is NO EASY WAY; you have to want it and get the mind set to believe in yourself that you can do it. I am finding that by reading labels and preparing or helping to prepare my own food, that I am actually eating less & slower & enjoying what I am easting more. I have cut out my 2 scotches at nite as well as all sugar, high fructose corn syrup, almost all dairy products & ALL ALCHOHOL – it was very difficult at first, but now I FEEL GREAT & MUCH FITTER. THANKS VIC

problem is, the diet is not what you sell in your video. It’s only after you spend your money that you find out, it’s just like all the other diets….atkins, sugar busters, caveman, the zone, etc…..sure the diet works, just not what you advertise it is.

Well Steve it has worked for many, I think you are one of these people who expect everything to be done for you. You have to put a lot of effort in yourself. I have been on this diet for 13 days now and have lost 8 lbs. so I think it works. but you have to be motivated in the first place. You definitely have to be in the right frame of mind to make any diet a success. I am feeling positive at this moment and i hope you will get thaqt way too. Good luck.
[Reply]
I agree, the diet does work….EXACTLY the same way all of the others do. And you should feel positive and keep on going!!!!! Brava!
My point was that the diet is NOT what is sold in the video pitch. I went into much greater detail about it in my original post, which unfortunately was not put up.

Well I’m on the second circuit(A, B, C..etc) of the initial beginners program and do I feel great. Weighed myself after Day 12 and had lost 1st 1Lb, but my energy and vitality is soaring. Increasing reps on each exercise in the same time period…and guess what…..Just listen to what Vic says….YOU DON’T NEED TO DO MORE THAN 20 MINS…I am totally Kn……d at the end but can feel the benefit each day. And as for the diet……my taste buds and sense of smell are taking off…can’t believe what all the other stodgy foods/alcohol was doing to me. Well on the way to my target of 28Lbs in 31days. Keep the faith guys n gals IT WORKS.

I have started the two week warm up and then I will start the beginner course and stay on it for 31 more days. I did 20 burpees today. I was not sure that I could do one but I got them done. Now a little sore. I am planning to stick to this. I have started the diet. I feel full all of the time. I have lost 4 lbs already. I enjoy your follow up tips and encouragement.

I’m is the same boat as Maria is. I am on my 14th days and lost 7 pouds so far. I feel WAY better. People around me see the change which means that I am not doing this for nothing.
I was not too overweight as well (5,9′ — 204 pds). Some people don’t even beleive me when I said 205 pds. But I do know that I am dragging those pounds and don’t feel always energized.
Like I said, I feel way better. I do not see the day when I am back to my old habits. I am transforming my life. YES, It is 31 days, but after 14th days, I feel like this is the way I will live my life from now.
Thanks Vic, I really enjoy this program!!!

Hi Vic,
I have been full on training now for the last 3.5 years in the Gym after many many years of not doing too much I am almost 60 and getting perhaps to the best shape of my life and strength as well. The only downfall that has been frustrating me is getting totally rid of my little love handles. Your tips on getting rid of the grains, and dairy have started to do in a very short time wonders for me.The thing is that I still eat a bit of rice and pasta and some low fat yoghurt or a slice of multigrain bread but only now after training and bingo my body fat is already starting to reduce in only a week or so, just amazing, and I still have to get into your exercise program.
[Reply]
I am on my second round of the beginners own weight, i lost 3 kg quite quickly, and then it hovered and today i had gained a kg. Guess what? I did not stick to the diet. I lost the whole grain, and MOST of the alcohol but have had a binge or two with wine, and chocolate. Surprise surprise! My resolve has to be better. Thanks for the posts Vic, it helps. As a line from an old blues song goes: Noone to blame but me!

Hi Vic,
I’ve been on your diet for 14 days today. My results for the first week were amazing but the second half of this week have been dissapointing I have stopped loosing weight in fact I have actually gone back up by 3lb. I have kept sticktly to your diet and the 10min intense exercise program, can you recommend anything else that may help loose my fat stomach which is my original problem.
[Reply]
Vic, I’ve been using the program for a week now and dropped 5 pounds. If this rate continues, it’ll be a highly successful month. I wonder what is a reasonable goal after the month. I don’t know that I want to give up pizza forever. But neither do I want to throw away the positives gained from this program. Is there a maintenance plan that allows some carbs, dairy, etc ?
[Reply]
Vic, I think your basic principles can work for me – I would like to ask that you suggest exercises that can replace the baby burpee and any other procedure that might be beyond my physical ability.
I knew that I had to set my sights low and therefore have started with the two week program.
After seeing your baby burpee on YouTube and trying to replicate it, I found that my disability won’t allow me to do that. I suffered strokes that affected my sense of balance a dozen years ago. As a result, though I can walk relatively slowly and carefully, I cannot run and I cannot jump. Going quickly to a stance that challenges what balance I can muster won’t work
Pushups are not a problem, and I have started with those on the initial two week plan. Going without dairy products is going to be a challenge, because my acid reflux just flared and dairy was a big part of coping with that, but I can manage just about any diet for thirty-one days.
[Reply]
All i can say is in my case being 46 yrs young is that it had to be diet because i was already working out 5-6 days a week in short intervals and wasnt seeing the belly go as much as i needed it to. Started the lifestyle change as i call it last week and im already down 10lbs! The easiest way to rid yourself of HFC is to just eat fruits instead. Thank you Vic for the education and straightforwardness reminds of my boot camp time.

I’ve been drinking Zevia brand diet soda for about a month now and just started your plan. Zevia is only sweetened with Stevia and nothing else. Please tell me it’s okay to at least have one a day. I sweeten my coffee with Stevia. After a workout can I have a small amount of chickpeas mixed with some protein instead of rice or potatoes. I’d rather have the chickpeas once a day because they have protein in them not just straight carbs.
Thanks for your advice Vic.

Vic,
I definitely saw results. I lost 7 pounds in my first week. My problem was that that the diet made me feel like I felt when I was on Atkins. No energy, feeling like I was in a daze all the time, etc. I just didn’t feel like it was a healthy way to lose weight and get in shape.

Hi Paul, sometimes there is a transition period where your body adjusts to the elimination of grains. But after that, energy levels should be fine and many people have improved their health with the program. And increase in your healthy fats (olive oil, nuts, avacado) would be my recommendation if you continue with the plan.
I am 65 and 5 feet tall, and have been pretty sedentary for the past few years. I have been overweight most of my adult life and on 1/1/2011 I weighed 202 lbs. I resolved to begin eating a healthy diet of vegetables, fruit, meat and eggs and to eliminate added sugars and all grains. I set a few goals along the way, the first one being 175 lbs. The weight started coming off, and two weeks ago I discovered you, Vic, a very lucky day for me!! Today is day 14 of the 31 day plan for me, and today I reached that first goal, 175 lbs!! I haven’t gotten fully into the workouts yet, but I’m working on it, and I follow the eating plan to the letter. Thanks for all of the encouragement Vic, believe me, it really matters!! Next goal on the way to my ideal weight of 115 lbs. is 150, wish me luck. And congrats to all of you who have been so successful, you inspire me.

Hey Vic, your work outs absolutely kick my butt, but I feel friggin’ awesome. I just turned 40 and have weight trained and done cardio (yes, the long kind) for the last 6 years faithfully (4-5 times per week). I followed a low GI diet too but was not really getting the results I wanted. I’m following your advanced gym work out and diet to a “t” for the last 13 days and have NEVER felt better. I have so much more energy and am slowly losing flab around my middle. To tell the truth, I really don’t miss the bread, dairy, diet soda and sweets. Love the short intense workouts. You totally rock!

I am 46yrs young and I have been on this Fat Loss Cure for 8 days and lost almost 10 lbs already. By following the simple foods and the exercises suggested makes this a really great
” Fat Loss Cure” for most people. Follow Vic’s advice and stay away from the foods or drinks that are not conducive to your good health and you will get great results, like me!!!
I am starting to do the “low impact workouts” until I see that I can continue to the beginners workout series. I must first walk before I can run and you win the race with perseverance. Take it one day at a time and take this warning seriously like Vic says “3 seconds on the lips equals 164 hours on the hips.”

Vic,
This came at the right time for me. I am two weeks into the program today. I lost 6 pounds the first week (but 5 of those I had gained the week before on vacation, so I felt like I really had only lost 1 pound). Since that time I haven’t lost anything.
I have about 13 more pounds to lose that I gained from prescription meds.
I eat very clean normally and work out very hard. So the only change I’ve really had to make is to cut out dairy, sugar and grains. The grains have been the hardest thing for me, and I woke up this morning wondering if it was worth it…for one stinkin pound.
You’ve convinced me to stick with it the full 31 days before I decide.
Thanks for your program.

So far, 10 lbs in two full weeks……eating lots of fresh fruits and salads with just the recommended 4-6 oz of lean meat protein. Two eggs scrambled with green pepper each morning is a treat! Enjoy the handful of almonds, cashews, & walnuts as a snack. Not a vegetable eater at all, so I have stuck to the salad fixings of green peppers, cucumbers and onions. Mixing fresh baby spinach, hearts of romaine and shredded iceberg in the salads with crushed walnuts and the great salad dressing recipe offered in this plan. Try organic honey in place of the Maple Syrup…..

Your killing me Vic. I’m down from 34 to a 32, haven’t bean there since I was 32 years old. I’ll be 52 in a few months. Now I just took a how old or young health quiz by DR. Oz and he said I should be eating pasta and bread and cereal. Said its not good for me not to eat grains or dairy. Hmmm I wonder who’s right. I can start to see my abbs now and I don’t want to do any more crunches. The abbs are big enough so I think i’ll stay the course, 15 more days to go, piece of cake and I can’t wait to have one.

Vic-
I’ve not been able to start the program yet, but plan to do so immediately after the July 4 weekend. Question: Do all vegetables have to be “fresh,” or can they be canned or frozen? I already have a reasonable accumulation of canned vegetables, and some frozen ones, but the program seems to indicate “fresh” vegetables are required. Also, are there any vegetables that should be considered “off-limits?” Spinach, beets, zucchini (canned), green beans, carrots? Also, what about things like barbecue sauces/steak sauces, etc? My guess is that they all have too much sugar and should be avoided, right? My biggest challenge will be giving up my “sweet tea,” but I WILL do it. Any further suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Frank, ideally vegetables should be fresh. Frozen is fine as well. For canned, read the label and keep an eye out for anything in the ingredients other than the vegetable.
Carrots are a bit higher on the glycemic index and I tend to only eat them post-workout or in smaller quantities compared to other vegetables. But I would not be concerned about the carrots unless you are trying to shed the final 10 pounds.
You are correct about the sauces, most will have lots of sugar. Again, read the labels.
Good luck, you can do it!

Hi Vic,
Half way through day 19 of the Aged & Damaged routine and 5.2kg lighter. Most of it seems to have dropped off my belly, quite noticeably. My trews are looser and my belts are longer. Ha. Had 2 slips on the diet; 1 x 375ml can of Fanta. The other was unexpectedly being away from home all day and needing to eat, but only a minor no-no. No cravings for sweets, booze or carbohydrates. My wrecked knee is a bit of a problem for all the “getting down” type of exercises, but I’m managing and the times to complete them are getting shorter. Wondering whether I’ll break the No Booze ban as I’ll be 75 before somewhere near the 31st day.
Like all the motivational emails and tips. Thanks and cheers.

Vic, I followed this link to your site from a friend of my daughters in College at USD. He is a committed advocate for training. I have not met him personally but I am thrilled I found your info. Formaer military my self I forgot to stick to the basics over all these years and found my self subscribing to the Cardio, Whole grain, line and got stuck at a weight I hated. Now in the past 7 days have lost 8 lbs and and slowly working in Lunges and Burpees (8 count body builders from my time) into my routine. Although I only started with Dead lifts and cut my hamster routine on the eliptical from an hour to 15 mins I have seen great results in no time at all. The diet piece was easy for me as I have always watched what i eat. Now i just eat much simpler and cleaner foods. btw I am 52 years old and have my six pack back in no time. Thanks for pointing out the painfully obvious to me again. Boot camp was in 77 for me and now 34 years later I am feeling much better. I also have a stimulator in my spine from multiple compression fractures 20 yrs post injury.

I’m at day 15 and keeping the diet pretty well without too much trouble. I’m doing the oldies exercises, since I’m almost 72 and have to take care of various parts of my body. No trouble with them either, and given that I’m a regular at the gym and pretty fit anyway, I’ve been surprised by the amount of improvement at each iteration of the workouts. I lost 1.2k (about 3 lb) in the first week, but only 0.2k (about 1/2 lb) in the second which was very disappointing. I’ve certainly lost size, but I don’t see any evidence that I’m losing tummy fat any faster than I do on any other diet. But I’ll keep at it. My experience with other diets tells me it’s common to go for a week to 10 days without losing weight, and I’ll reserve judgement on the tummy fat till the end.

Lost 14 lbs in five weeks on the program, and that was even with three “cheat” days in there for Christmas and New years eve. 29lbs to go. I am starting the 31 days again today, January 1st is a great day to “re-start”. It hasn’t been easy but not as hard as I thought it was going to be either. I am on a loose weight, exercise program with a friend of mine. She is simply counting calories and working out the same type of exercises as Vic’s but 60 min or more per session. We decided to see if it worked the same. We both lost 10lbs the first 3wks and I was only doing the exercises for 10 to 20 min a session and now I continue to loose weight and she has hit a plataue. This is working great for me and I am now a believer that “what you eat” matters, not simply calories in calories out. Happy New Year Vic!

7 days on the plan. I’ve stuck to diet religiously and have eaten well. The exercise program… Not so much!! I’ve still lost 11 pounds in 7 days and I wasn’t extremely overweight! I’m a firefighter, 5’10″ and my weight was 204 pounds. I’m now at 193, my belly has shrunk, I have more energy, and I’m not starving!! Cutting out the Coke was tough(I was a 4-6 a day coke drinker) and the dairy was tough (love me some cheese), but because I’m eating well and not going hungry, it’s easily manageable. I hope to get to 185 and then maintain it by following the diet except for a day or two a week when I’ll indulge (not OVERindulge) in some of my favorite bad foods!! Thanks for the help!!

Have lost 5 pounds in one week. 212 to 207. Drank a lot of diet coke and have had issues with headaches but that is getting better. Also drank a lot of milk and I miss that more than the diet coke. I like the 31 day focus and keep telling myself that I for 31 days I can and will do this. Goal is to be at 190 (I’m 6’1″). Hated the exercise program (beginners gym) the first few sessions but my body is reacting nicely.

I know I have a long way to go until I reach my goal of 200, but this is a great start. I’m hoping that as I can handle more exercise the weight will continue to fall off. Thanks Vic!

Thats coming from a coke addict, sugar addict, and late night eater too. I hope I will still lose while I wait for my brain to even out and my body to regain its strength. Let me know if you can.
