Because Video

Hey there, Vic here and if all has gone according to plan I’ll be moving into my new apartment in Austin today. :)

I’ve talked before about finding your “why” and how important it is for staying motivated on your fat loss journey.  I even made a list of 55 Reasons To Lose Weight if you need some inspiration.  But a few years ago (May 2009), I made a video where I talked about my personal “why” and what motivates me to exercise and eat healthy.  Check it out:

Why do YOU want to lose weight and get in shape?  Let me know in the comments below.

Because I hadn’t realized how blessed I was until my six pack was gone; because I’m tired of hiding my stomach under my clothes; because I have something to prove; because I hate how my holiday beach pictures look; because it just feels so much better; because I watch older people and see the effects of who exercised and ate real foods and who didn’t; because I refuse to join the national trend towards obesity; because I know I can!
Thanks for the opportunity to do this for myself Vic.

Cos I hate the way my pants drop under my belly, I hate looking in the mirror and seeing my fat belly, I hate it when I see a slim trim person around my age, I need to lose for my blood pressure. I just well and truly hate the way I look

I like them all, except the last one – I’ve never worked out for girls and never will.

Looking great in the video by the way Vic!

Liked the video! The last part was sad- but it happens.
For me it’s because I too am vain, I want to be comfortable and confident in my own skin, I don’t want to compare myself to others, I want to look cute in certain clothes and styles :P )

Yes to it all . . . except the “she broke my heart” issue. Which has me slightly confused. Do you think that being in great shape and sporting a killer six pack is a way to “show her” as in “look what you are missing now?” It won’t work nor is it a healthy attitude, besides I suspect the girl left for far deeper reasons than whether you sported a beer belly versus rock hard abs and if she didn’t, well she doesn’t deserve a second thought let alone your heart.

I understand about broken hearts, having recenly lost my best friend, soul mate, father of my children, and husband of 40 years. You might have a point, if the comment was meant not in bitterness, but as a means to focus energy and thoughts on a worthwhile endevour. Maybe one cannot mend a broken heart, but one should be able to temper debilitating grief and pain by focusing on getting uber-healthy and fit.

Good luck to you and Coda in your new home.

because the greatest fashions, cheap or expensive, are made for slim, trim ladies who could actually wear a paper bag and look good! I, too, am sick of wearing my shirts on the outside of my pants/skirts, trying to camouflage that fat gut of a belly; also, because that yellow/white fat transfers to the liver and surely can’t be healthy; because healthy folk are the ones with more brown fat than that ugly chicken fat looking mess. Damn her for breaking your heart! M

Hi Vic, Thanks for all your e-mails. They are all great and motivating. I have lost over 28 lbs and a few inches off the waist. I still have another 20 to 40 lbs to go! ( To catch up on my big brother, Ken, in Sydney,
Australia.) I had an old classmate staying in Austin until last year. I think he has moved to Houston, now.
All the best to you and Coda in your new home.

    Hello Vic,
Thanks for the continuous supply of motivational tapes and messages, They are most necessary, so please keep them coming.
Before my retirement, my job required a full & exhaustive medical each 2 years. One time the doc said to me, “You have put on 2.4kg since I last saw you. Every 2 years when you older blokes come in, almost every one of you has gone up in weight by 2 to 5kg.” So now I’m doing something about it.
I am happy to brag that I am 15.5kg lighter in just less than 9 weeks. And only a mug would do it to impress the sheilas.
    Regards,
    Dave.
